To be honest, I think whatever ADWSS started out as, it turned into a train wreck that never got off the ground. The people involved do seem to be evasive, but there are many reasons that could be the case. It would have been a guy and a kid running around in a rented mascot costume for a day, put into 30-60 minutes of film. If the people involved in the project don't want to talk about the project, where exactly are we supposed to get information? I wasn't involved in the search at the time, but it seems like you exhausted most of your leads on the first go-around.
An anti-climactic end isn't good enough justification for me. Most of our big searches had disappointing ends.
There are plenty of ways to go about this. For example, part of the reason it felt anticlimactic for me, was because there were a bunch of leads we had listed that we never contacted.
While part of me believes we were as close to the truth as ever, I also believe we were deceived, purposely misdirected so that we would stop looking.

I am not on the inside of this, but I would be keen to know the last exchanges our search group had with Mr. Orange, etc. - like if there's anything the public doesn't know.
"Mr. Orange"... you can't make this shit up; if I told my friends I was looking for a lost crappy SpongeBob film with this guy Mr. Orange they would think I was crazy - like just think how messed up this all sounds from the outside.

For starters, I just rediscovered an old Google Doc that has the names of a ton of Reagal films, along with the names of those that worked on it. Somewhere to start.

Yes, but if we could cross-reference and remove the folks we'd already talked to we could make the search go faster.

"And Matt heard the voice of LMW-tan speak to him, and she said to him, You must reopen the ADWSS case. There's still many loose ends to tie up. Matt was never one to disobey LMW-tan, so he did as she told. And Matt discovered many inconsistencies between the official statement and prior ones."
Sorry, I had to when I saw "Gospel of the LMW".
Joking aside, I, for one, am fine with reopening the case. My only issue is finding something new to say about it. Looking back, yes, there's a lot of inconsistencies between Orange's "official" statement (the closing thoughts video) and statements others made throughout the search. Unfortunately, I find it doubtful that many of these old leads will want to resurface. It's possible that ADWSS dealt sufficient damage to the reputation of Reagal Films (the Reddit posts, rumors of computer viruses, for example) that it had no choice to shut down. It's probably something that Orange and company don't want to discuss anymore. It's probably also the reason why the Kickstarter never went anywhere.
I seriously doubt Reagal cared about it's reputation, the only people it's films could have been made for were people who didn't know anything about Reagal and wouldn't look it up.
For starters, I just rediscovered an old Google Doc that has the names of a ton of Reagal films, along with the names of those that worked on it. Somewhere to start.
Always worth a shot, but 90% of the time they claim to have no knowledge of the film; what Mr. Orange led on is that they're all independent of one another and Regal is just a distribution company. And then when you contact someone who's name is actually associated with ADWS you just get yelled at.
I feel like such an asshole for saying this, but I was stalking Lorenzo's twitter and his whole page just seems so fake; like his only posts are inspirational quotes, and then his pictures are just very generic pictures of him in a nice car looking cool/successful like he's a bot or something lol -- just as shady as the film itself.

My thought is we could honestly give them any amount of money and they would never do it.

I'm sorry if I post a controversial opinion here, but I felt it was necessary in light of what made the "world-famous" (no sarcasm intended) search effort destructive to Reagal Films' reputation.
First of all, I believe we should leave Mr. Orange alone and let him do his own business of writing scripts for film projects. If he doesn't want answer questions related to the film or to do anything with A Day with SpongeBob SquarePants anymore, that is fine with me. Since he is the creator of the film, it's his project and he can do anything he wants with it; in other words, it's his decision if he wants to start up that Kickstarter promised almost two years ago or not. In addition, I have no reason to suspect him of lying since he answered nearly every question related to the film on YouTube user Ongoing Mysteries' closing video on the search effort in a mature and reasonable matter as he never lashes out at any of the search members making up lies and misconceptions about him and the company he works for, but simply debunks them.
Second, despite the DVD being listed on Amazon for a long time (it was only listed to test out if people wanted to pre-order the film while it was in production), it has been confirmed later on that no material was actually produced for the film and the search effort only brought more attention to its Amazon listing, resulting in numerous people making fake DVDs to scam people and lead to the misconception that material was actually produced for the film. It also resulted in numerous proven fake fan-films on YouTube to cash in on the search effort and fool search members into believing they are part of the real "film". If the people at Reagal had simply released a statement on their website saying that nothing was produced for the film and sent out emails to search members about it or just take down the Amazon listing while saying no DVDs were actually produced, much of the ensuing chaos could have been avoided.
Third, multiple people outside of Reagal fooled people into believing that something was actually produced for the film (in one case, a Reddit user claiming to be affiliated with Reagal spreaded lies that Reagal Films isn't a legitimate film studio) and spread lies about the company in an effort to make them more "mysterious" because the people involved refused to answer people's questions about the film. I believe what Mr. Orange said about all of these hurtful accusations as he is the creator of the film and his company is being badly represented by a film that was never produced or existed.
Finally, since Reagal Films' seemingly collapsed, I believe it's less likely that Mr. Orange would want to produce ADWSS anymore because of the bad publicity it gave to Reagal and just wants to move on with his life. Plus, he wants to keep his real identity a secret (hence why he chose the nickname in the first place) for a reason, and we should respect his privacy. I believe that revealing Mr. Orange's real identity could open him up to harrassment and being called a "con-artist" for refusing to reveal any details about his project or follow-up on his promised Kickstarter campaign that never came to fruition.
In conclusion, I can't verify that Mr. Orange doesn't want anything to do with his pet project anymore, but I'm saying this in case if this is true (and even if my theory is proven false). For all these reasons above, I believe that re-opening the search again is a bad idea and can lead to potential life-long harrassment to employees of the now-defunct Reagal Films studio.
Reagal was a shady company that produced cheaply made nearly copyright infringing, and sometimes very likely copyright infringing films and, I believe, some of the employees (at least Orange) could be involved in illegal schemes just judging by how cheap and skirting the line of legality their films were, and by how evasive and secretive they were for much of the search. I just think at least those who were the top of the company should be investigated further. Most harassment of them that could have possibly happened would have been at the peak of the search, and was sadly inevitable. I just don't think it's wise to toss aside con-artist allegations, as a lot of his schemes were very suspect, and the promised kickstarter, a platform commonly used for scams (and sometimes genuine products) on top of that was just a big red flag.
On top of this, I don't believe Reagal ever cared about their reputation. Why else would they make films that could've easily gotten them a cease and desist or worse.

I understand that Reagal Films is not a saintly company whose responses to the search effort were questionable, but I was just saying they could have handled the situation so much better had they been more open about the project and kept their story straight. In other words, I was trying to be neutral and fair (i.e. not defend them, but point out that the people involved are human beings going on with their lives and may want nothing to do with the project anymore) to the company while avoiding to quote any of the allegations against them since they are so secretive about their employees, management and projects.
In that case, I'm glad that the planned Kickstarter never got anywhere, since the script wasn't that good. I am not aware of any Kickstarter scams as most of them I have seen (i.e. not all) can deliver on their promises, but you can't count ADWSS as one of them since it never got started and no money was donated to the effort.

I was stating that attempting to start a kickstarter (whether or not it comes to fruition) after you've been running a scammy company that produces nigh copyright infringing content doesn't seem like the most legitimate thing. And, if you want to see a lot of examples of pretty terrible and scammy kickstarters, go to r/shittykickstarters. A lot of examples of simple repackaging of chinese products if they DO succeed in funding, but most of the time many are outright lies, or the managers of the funding do not know what they are doing and fall on their face. Indiegogo is a worse platform in this regard, however, having infamously a funding option called "flexible funding" that allows the runner of an indiegogo page to get money if they don't even reach their goal, and doesn't require product developers to have a prototype already when starting a crowdfund. I'd say if Orange had (actually started) a crowdfund, using Indiegogo would be even more of a sign of it being a scam, though I'm getting a bit off topic at this point.
I emailed Mr. Orange one last time to see if he responds, if not I will move ahead in trying to get in contact with some other Reagal folks. Wish me luck!
I mean, the biggest thing to me is why Lorenzo acted like the movie existed, then retracted to promo copies and then nothing at all; if anyone wants to bother him again, go for it, but at least we got something from them -- they really didn't have to say anything, but I guess it was equally annoying to them as it was to us. And literally all but one of the calls (the most inconsequential one at that) have been removed/privated on YouTube.

Current goal of mine is recovering his contact info so I could question him a bit. About the promo copies, yeah that was really weird. MVD told me that they definitely 100% had promo copies printed, later Lorenzo contradicts that, so I am not sure what to believe.

Great, did anyone archive those? If not, the search itself is becoming lost media. Ironic.
LSuperSonicQ (Radiant Lloyd Firefly) was a member of Ongoing Mysteries, so maybe he knows if they were removed or privated... now my memory is being jogged that Lorenzo actually asked them to remove them to not damage his/Reagal's reputation, so I bet they were just privated.
