I could go on a vimeo of an old animator from season 1-2 to try and find it. Edit: I went on Vimeo and found nothing at all
again, looking and watching all episodes of spongebob is not the best idea because maybe its not even there at all and its from something else. plus, it will take hours to find one simple scene that could be lost.
Yeah keep in mind if this exists, it's most likely a commercial or promo that was aired on TV. Not related to any full episode and not something that was made exclusively for the internet.
In another thread, a user recollected a SpongeBob Super Bowl commercial that they thought was lost but it looks like it's already online- youtu.be/1rOGLJB5dj8?si=xh2k-T22g4CWUdCM
This is dated 2004 and is probably exactly the kind of thing we're looking for with this topic- the animation, the year, and the obscurity. Not to mention it looks like the only upload of it is that one, from 11 years ago. It's possible the fortune cookie commercial is online already and we just haven't come across it yet
My comments section mentioned a lost collaboration with Panda Express but it could have also been made for some other Chinese related content, like the New Year as crumbelivable pointed out.
Here's an archive of Panda Restaurant Group's press section, they stopped updating it around April 2006 but it doesn't mention a partnership with Viacom or Nickelodeon anywhere. On top of that, this article from March 2008 mentions "For the first time in Panda Express's history, an advertising campaign will help launch the new product" suggesting that they'd never run any larger scale advertising before that. If it was a collaboration, it absolutely wasn't Panda Express.
It's possible but I remember this being on my TV screen.
maybe it was a parody show like MAD
The animated version of MAD didn't premiere until 2010, and I cite this memory as being no later than 2007. But even if so I already looked through all the times SpongeBob was parodied on MAD and there was nothing related to fortune cookies.
If it was a parody, I'd assume it'd have most likely been aired on MTV or Comedy Central.

i remember this. patrick eats something that isn’t edible but then spongebob says “um patrick, that’s not the food” definitely a commercial, for me it aired around 2012.
bizarrely, i do not remember anything about fortune cookies, it wasn’t advertising fortune cookies. so that aspect is probably a mandela effect
This sounds familiar to me also. With how many of us seem to recall it, it must have existed in some capacity. Here’s an interesting potential lead that could be worth looking into. In 2011 Nickelodeon was having “SpongeBob & Kung Fu Panda Fridays” where on Friday nights they’d air SpongeBob followed by the Kung Fu Panda show. I found a bumper from the same timeframe that had SpongeBob and Po doing karate on the Nick logo. Maybe Patrick eating the fortune cookie happened on a bumper that aired around the same time?
