What is one thing you hate about lost media hunting?

I also made lost media threads that nobody was interested in, like the thread I made about the appearances of the main English "Bakuten Shoot Beyblade" voice actors on YTV.

I get the name thing. For years I had been trying to find a 3D first person zombie game I had played in early 2000s and all I remembered was a few sparse things about it and that part of the game title was Undead or Undying. I couldn't find it based on what I remembered was in the game as I got lots of wrong game results, and searching for the title I remembered, most of my searches ended up with Clive Barker's Undying but in the end I found out it was Project Undead I was looking for but it took quite a while to find it.

Going along with that there is also not having or remembering enough specific information on what you are looking for so that when you do try to search for what you are want to find, you either get no results or bombarded with lots of search results that are not what you want.

What is often hard is when you do get lots of results and many are not what you want, if you try to exclude some of those search terms you got that you know are wrong about the media you are looking for, that often ends in no results or still the wrong ones. For example, I was looking for a 2D farm game I played in early 2000s but just searching for it either gave me search results about Sim Farm or lots of mobile iOS/Android/flash games based around farming, and it wasn't SimFarm or any game on a mobile device and wasn't flash and trying to exclude those as search terms didn't help as that just lead to information on US farming and agriculture, not a game.

I have quite a few threads with mostly no replies to what I am looking for so I get it. I often feel like I either don't have or remember enough specific information on a media for anyone to know what it could be (or even close to what it could be or when it came from) or the media may be more obscure that I think it is as I have seemed to like a few games, midi files and TV shows not many people I talk to actually remember or know about.

Tell me about it.

Or how about when you're perfectly willing to pay but the company itself isnt willing to ship to the US. Thats happened to me once or twice. I really wanted the bluray of I Dolci Inganni but it doesnt show up on American Amazon. Then on French Amazon, not only did they outright refuse to ship it to my US address but they wouldnt even send it to my buddys address in the Netherlands. (He offered to be the middleman when he heard my plight.) So I had to use another obscure foreign retailer, which was a bit nervewracking because with untested websites Im always worried it's a scam. Luckily it all worked out but the process was a huge hassle...and expensive.

Yep. Like, I know a high quality (and English language!) print of Uccidere in Silenzio exists but the only person that has it is the directors son, who wont release it and refuses to answer any inquiries. Im the only person on Earth who cares about the film so theres no way to show him a demand is there or mount a public campaign to pressure him to release it. It's just gonna sit in a vault and get even more forgotten because the people that own it cant be bothered. Thats the most frustrating feeling in the world.

No way. If someone is still alive, their work should not become public domain after a completely arbitrary number of years.

I wonder what this means for properties such as Calvin and Hobbes? Waterson obviously doesn't want merchandising or adaptations of his comics, but when copyright expires that won't matter right?
