Fairylogues and Radio-plays, the original Fantasia audio, Fall of a Nation, the missing scenes from Metropolis, the Golem, Lafflets, Walt Disney performing as Mickey Mouse, Lincoln's lost speech, the original Foodfight, my great-grandfather's painting of Moses with the Ten Commandments (ok, that last one's kind of a joke, but my mom's still upset about it).
I know parts of the original Foodfight were found, but I forgot how. It would be nice to see the missing scenes from Metropolis, as well as the missing third reel of A Page of Madness.
If it makes you feel better, OddityArchive has some stuff when he did an entire video on the history of the network. It's not much, but it's better than having nothing at all. I'm not sure what their [DuMont] logic was in dumping all their footage and not saving it.
Ah yes, the Oddity Archive DuMont video...
I don't know how Ben ever got into possession of those things.
I was under the impression that the shows he showed footage of were some of the relatively small handful of their library that wasn't lost and was readily avaible online and in the public domain. I even thought he said that in the video.

Yeah, that's what I was mostly getting at. Along with the fragmented history of DuMont, he showed portions of what managed to survive.

Some of the footage was from a trailer, and there were some other reels but the LMW doesn't say where they came from.
It's not even the best theory, given that a second list used it and then both lists took it off at about the same time. They also have different prices, which indicates someone had to research the game to figure out what the price should be.
Mmm, just as I thought, hence the fingerquotes around "best theory". Honestly the theory it's some kind of copyright trap doesn't even make sense, because who would use a "fake game title" so bizarre?
There are actually some bizarre copyright traps out there. Apparently Google used the term "hiybbprqag", amongst others, as a copyright trap against Bing.
Also, now that I think about it, I'm not entirely sure if those lists are considered "original" enough to be copyrightable. It's very barebones with only the names of the titles and prices, and even then the prices change between the two companies. It's really much more likely that it refers to a game, with the question being if it's its own lost game or a badly translated title of a known game.

vamp1597 Well, back to my original theory, such as it is, that it was a...horrifically misinterpreted placeholder title for Dweebers which never was released anyway.

That's actually unlikely. The ads were for buying and selling used games. It wouldn't make sense for them to list a then-upcoming game for people to buy a used copy of.

have you seen LSuperSonicQ's video on it? its really fascinating

As a matter of fact yes, that was one of the things that got me into Lost Media, along with the concept of YYBI as a whole--and it inspired me to actually do some research and go down a rabbit hole or two on my own. *inhales deeply*
I decided to push the idea he put forth, which is a very valid one and something people never dive into, that these were game RESALE lists meaning that someone had to assume this game and the other games existed in some form to even derive a price. Literally I randomly picked two games, and researched them, and I found they were never released, at least not in America, under those titles but were fully produced and had roms online. So I picked another game, I believe the full title was Zetta Gundam, and dug into it and also found the same thing--fully produced, roms widely available, never released under THAT name and instead under a COMPLETELY different name, same with "Bionic Commandos" which everyone who ever touched an NES (*puts on Generation X hat*) knows was widely released as Bionic Commando, singular.
So that basically confirms that, as LSSQ pointed out, these games EXISTED physically and while some were not released under those names, or not released in the US or whatever, the roms and games themselves existed and were planned to go out...which in turn implies, at least to ME anyway, that Yeah Yeah Beebiss I, whatever the fuck it was, was ALSO an actual, physically extant game and planning to go out but, likely, either was never released over here or under such a wildly different name that we may never find it.
Or as I told my GF, it's entirely possibly that was the original, Japanese working title for Sonic The Hedgehog. And considering how kaleidoscopic and bizarre that series is, the title would ironically have made more sense than Sonic The Hedgehog.
The Sonic 1 Prototype. There is not even the slightest evidence to imply it is easily accessible to anyone, nor is there any plausible reason to assume it ever got into an outsider's hands. That bad boy is way past gone.
Lmao, yeah, even Yuji Naka wanted to release it when asked about it, but even he doesn't know where it is and he got sad as a result because he said he put a lot of work into it, and know not even the series creator knows where it is.
Unfortunately, most of the missing 97 classic Doctor Who episodes. I'd like to think some of them will be recovered, but likely not all of them.
Very specifically, The Feast of Steven Christmas episode from The Daleks' Master Plan serial. It was only aired once and no copies were ever made for overseas broadcast. The rest of serial did have copies made, intended to be aired in Australia, but they were deemed unsuitable for minors and thus never aired.

I bet there's stupid hoarders keeping some DW tapes in their mummy's basement I just know it.
But sadly, I bet we're never going to see London After Midnight, or any silent movie that got burninated (reason 234 why we should get a time machine... or a TARDIS )
Just vibin' here. Thanks to everyone who edited the Requiem for a Heavyweight article in terms of grammar. We made it to featured!
Which piece of lost media, Do you guys think will never be found. Let me hear your thoughts
The original manuscripts of the gospels and Acts. Theyre long gone
I'm not keen on this type of thing, so I apologize for any ignorance. Is there a chance they could be in some archives somewhere or were they destroyed? I don't know the history of preserving scripture works or how true a lot of talk is about certain books existing (destroyed or otherwise) or it's all just speculation.
