I have been looking on San Francisco-area commercial breaks looking for the first Got Milk commercial with no luck.....for those of you unaware of the pick of that location, the Got Milk? campaign launched locally for the California Milk Processor Board with a meaning- asking if you were running out of milk if you craved it while eating mostly junk food. It officially got licensed nationally in 1995 for localized distribution, stripping out all references to the original producer and also creating their own Got Milk ads (Milk Mustache, even That Milk Thing). Some also copied the idea like Refrigerator Raider.
If you want a recap of what the commercial is- go check it out. Please no spit it out or Micheal Bay jokes.
Anyways, there's a discrepancy on when it debuted. Some say October 24 of 1993 while others say October 30th of 1993. The earlier the find, the better. I just want a California recording of the ad from the debut break of the ad. It was the first official time we heard a 90s catchphrase, that even the tail end of the millennials knew before YouTube
Look through your tapes like KGO (ABC) and stuff (other networks still might have it). Sometimes, dairy commercials can come evening before prime-time (I had that experience with a cheese commercial) but prime time is still plausible due to one bad experience a viewer had with "Santa"during NYPD Blue, I only want the version with the California Milk Processor Fluid Advisory Board copyright ONLY, no America's Dairy Farmers.
I also want the full 60-second version in that break that's what all commercials begin airing with.
