Greetings everyone!
Back when I was a child growing up in Mexico in the 90s, there was a public TV network that used to run nothing but educational content for people of all ages. Some of the content included documentaries, TV shows, and cartoons, both local and international.
There was one series that had featured an animated, bipedal talking orange and white cat imposed over live action footage, mostly about nature or science. Every episode would start with the cat asking a question about a particular topic saying, "I wonder...<insert question>?" The cat would interact with the voice of a man who as not seen on screen, but would explain the answer to the cat. In one episode the cat was wondering what causes rain. These look like they were made in the 70s or even the 80s (probably roughly 1975-1985) and I think they were originally from an English-speaking country. These were shorts that only lasted about 5 to 10 minutes.
The animation reminded me of Yoram Gross from Australia, but I could not locate anything on its list of works. I thought I saw the words "Coronet Films" in the ending credits, but couldn't find it there either. I thought the latter was a good match because Coronet Films was known for its educational films, but it was a dead end. I thought it was a Yoram Gross production since it did have a few films that had animation over a live action background, but, alas, I couldn't find it either.
Update: After doing more intensive research into Coronet Films list of works, I finally found it. The shorts were called "Wonder World of Science" featuring Wondercat.
