I checked the site's rules and figured this might not qualify for the wiki itself, but felt I should bring it up anyway.
You see, back in 1995, this obscure but bizarre anime film entitled Catnapped! (Totsuzen! Neko no Kuni Baniparu Uitto in Japanese) directed by underrated animator Takashi Nakamura (animation director of Akira) and co-written by Chiaki J. Konaka (of Serial Experiments Lain and Digimon Tamers fame) was released. It was dubbed into English circa 1999-2000 and has gotten some notability online for its creative but oddball animation (it has often been compared to Yellow Submarine).
For anyone not in the know, the plot involves two kids travelling to the strange world of Banipal Witt, where anthropomorphic cats reside. They have to retrieve their dog who has been turned into a monster used as a weapon by the evil princess Buburina, who is cursed to turn living things she touches into balloons.
Strangely enough, the film actually spawned a handful of merchandise: a picture book, a book illustrated with watercolor-painted drawings and, the subject for the thread in question, a soundtrack CD. It was published in 1995 by EMI Music Japan (then in a joint venture with Toshiba) and contains not just the theme song "Yume e No Tobira", but also the incidental score cues and even a karaoke version of the aforementioned song. Unfortunately, the CD is very rare and most any Japanese site listing it says it's out of stock. From my memory, copies were for sale on Amazon.co.jp around 7-8 years ago but it's no longer available.
