Just recently joined these forums after getting really interested in mysterious vidya things as well as the idea of tracking them down.
So what are the rarest lost video games?
It's difficult to be sure. Most "lost" video games never went into production. Others were those digital-only video games that people can't play anymore.
Probably the demo of NBA Elite 11. If Yeah Yeah Beebiss ends up existing, that would be up there as well.
It's very hard to determine what exact video game is the rarest and is still considered "lost" by the wiki's standards. I honestly don't know how to answer your question, but I would say Birthday Mania for the Atari 2600 would be probably the rarest for me at least. While some people are known to have a physical copy of the game (and has been sold online a few times), none of them have dumped it to the internet for other people to enjoy.
Like I said before, it's a tough question with no real answer.
Despite the frustrations of normal day life we go through, the best thing to do about it is still being happy for our friends and family.
It is difficult to determine the rarest video games. Most lost video games are either A. Never came out If this is the case either we are looking for the beta or alpha builds or the concept never got past the planning page. B. Digital games lost to time If this is the case our only hope is hoping someone has it saved on the console. It also gets into personal opinion. Someone might hold biases on franchises saying x game is more rare than x game. Anyways, my personal opinion we should be looking for Earthbound 64 but there is plenty to look for on this wiki.
Probably some of the ones with the biggest rarity factor are Mean Girls DS (which was cancelled at the last minute and we have no clue what stage in development it was at), Machot Drives it All/The First hardcore erotic Game in the world (for which we only got confirmation that it exists a couple months ago), the first Sonic the Hedgehog prototype (which even Yuji Naka doesn't know where it is), and Yeah Yeah Beebiss (assuming it exists as its own game and wasn't a typo or mistranslation for a game that is not lost). But like the other posters said, so many lost video games were simply cancelled or online/mobile games that just disappeared when they were taken offline. I'd suggest looking through the "Lost Video Game" category on the wiki and see if any of them catch your eye if you want to look for them. Also check if there are any threads on here, since there might be leads and search parties already that you can join in on.

I hate this section of the Wiki because too much of it is just documentation of beta/cancelled stuff; not actually lost.
Kingdom Hearts V Cast is an actual lost game; the OG build was found, but the rest of the game was DLC, which is actually lost.
As previous users stated, Yeah Yeah Beebiss is the big dog for me; it was a game listed in trade-in magazines in the '80s which doesn't exist. We are under the belief it was a cancelled US port of the Japanese game Family Trainer: Rai Rai Kyonshis: Baby Kyonshi no Amida Daibouken, a Power Pad game.

Pokemon Fishing Rally DS is one that comes to mind other than the ones already mentioned. It was a DS download play game available at the Pokepark in Japan in 2005 for a limited time, which would be deleted after a time limit or when the DS system was shut down. The most annoying thing about this game is that there is a person out there who has the ROM and has posted footage to YouTube, but refuses to release it. Hopefully one day they will change their mind but for now it's lost.

Though we have evidence of it existing, the Nintendo World Championships cartridge for the NES is the most rare video game of all time in my opinion. Very little people have it and is considered extremely valuable among collectors.
I would say any playable demo of a cancelled game as they are most likely in storage somewhere. Final Fantasy 64's playable demo and Kirby Air ride 64's playable demo can be considered rare.
