So I’m not sure if this stuff is considered “lost” as nobody is actively searching for it. Except me. This town is where I was raised. And I am obsessed with old news clips and videos and photos from before I was born or when I was super young and don’t remember. Mostly from the 70s 80s and early 90s. I was born in 1989.
I have stuff like a book about Irondequoit’s history, which has tons of cool vintage photos. And I also have the one that talks about Seabreeze that came out in 2018. I also helped archive hundreds of old VHS tapes at Irondequoit Cable Access Television. I came across a couple of 4th of July parades (96, 98, 99, 2001) and got them digitized. There was a VHS of the 1992 parade but that’s as early as I could find and I sadly never got a chance to grab it and I haven’t been able to get a hold of anybody at the archives. I did view it once. I’ve been desperately searching for any video footage of the 1991 parade. My mom actually took a handful of pictures from 1991, as my dad used to march with the fire department. But somebody out there has to have brought a camcorder and shot some video. (My aunt took the camcorder in 1999) I guess pictures are better than nothing. I also found a newspaper article in the digital archives with pics from the 1985 parade. I wish the Irondequoit Press/Post could go digital because I’m sure there’s tons more.
I also have the R-News clip from August 1994 when National school bus service Inc. did a bus safety fair in the Irondequoit Mall parking lot.
But if anyone happens to see this who lives near there and has some old videos, let me know. I love how somebody found home movies of the Memorial Day parade from 1957 when it was near Seabreeze. In color.
And yes I have seen the videos of East Rochester in 1968, the drive through downtown in 1989, and the documentary from 1963.
