"Disney Mirrorverse" is an action RPG mobile game developed by KaBam that's originally released in select countries in 2020, before releasing worldwide on June 23, 2022. The game's storyline tells of a universe where familiar Disney and Pixar heroes, different from the regular, magical universe they live in, are guardians of the "Stellar Mirror". One day, the "Stellar Mirror" got stolen by the villains and unleashed an army of evil mirror clones known as the Fractured. It is up to the guardians to save the "Stellar Mirror" and all of the Mirrorverse.
The game, while at first being slammed by a few fans, ends up being a success for a while and critics praised the gameplay and story of the game. But unfortunately, every story has to have an ending. After sinking in 34 million dollars from the game, KaBam made the difficult desision to shut down the servers on December 16, 2024, after 2 years on the market. Not only that, "Disney Mirrorverse" got delisted off the App Store and Google Play Store. Some people blamed the lack of new content for the game is the reason why it's shutting down. After the release of Rex, KaBam got hit with layoffs, leading to "Disney Mirrorverse" to slow down developement on any new guardians. Overall, we've seen 3 guardians since August of 2023. Most of the content after that are repeats of other events mixed in with some original events.
Now, as of September 18, 2024, "Disney Mirrorverse isn't lost media. There's still plenty of videos of the game on YouTube, the McFarlane Toys figurines are still on sale, the soundtrack for the game is up online, and a couple books are even made. It was the planned additional content that game was going to include.
An example had to be Jafar from "Aladdin" as a playable character. Jafar is programed as a playable character, but got demoted to being a boss character instead. Despite it, KaBam teased a playable Jafar in a few occasions. Mainly, at the end of the "Villains" trailer shown off at D23 2022 and even a character icon for the guardians menu showed that Jafar was going to be a support type guardian.
Now I would link a APK and/or a IPA download link since the game is now delisted in any app store, but I don't want to get in trouble with the mods in this board and lock the thread up, so no download link.
It is sad to see another Disney game shut down. I already suffered with the loss of Club Penguin back in 2017. Seeing the news that "Disney Mirrorverse" is shutting down is pretty disappointing. I sunked countless hours of the game ever since it came out. I got too obsessed with the game that I even did my own take on the Mirrorverse........... with the help of Craiyon.AI. Yes, not the best AI generated site I use, especially when Bing beat them out again with Dall.E 4, but it does make some descent art at least.
