There should be an iq test to get a drivers license. Goddamn, are the drivers in my town stupid.
That would mean FAR less cars & more peaceful traffic. Thing is though here in the USA, places can be far away & if you need to go to work, then the workplace could be like, 20 miles away & you don't have the money to move to a house closer to said workplace.

I see this a decent bit where I live: if you are purposefully (IE buying out of desire, not necessity) buying a car the size of a Paris apartment, you can kindly please shut up about gas prices. Also presidents don't control gas prices. I've driven under multiple presidents at this point and gas prices have fluctuated heavily during that time.
Aw man. I was a dumb 20 something year old when I bought a Honda Pilot from my mom who I think she ripped me off. But I needed a car at the time to get to work so yeah it is what it is. Still I don't think I would stay with my family for a while and I don't plan to have kids anyways so I probably don't need a big SUV.
Though I do feel the need to vent about the gas prices because I am barely getting ahead with my wage slave job and my parents (and sister) use me as an ATM and it's so hard to catch up in my bank account. I'm from Washington so the prices are pretty high in the West.
Unfortunately, I never learned to drive at age 16 and I can't just quit my job without any lack of transportation. So I am pretty much a prisoner for these 5 years all because I didn't plan well in life...
Yeah, no worries, if you are getting a hand-me-down or inherited car, there's not too much you can do about that. Certainly have some sympathy there! It sucks when family/friends rip you off! I actually had to drive a bigger family car for a while, but they subsidized the gas so I thankfully escaped having to pay those prices.
So sorry, not sure where you live, but living without a car, even in our cities SUCKS. It's so hard to go anywhere or do anything or plan anything without a car. No shame in not driving at 16 either-sadly that's usually yet another point of privilege, since it requires active family who can take you to the DMV, lend/give you a car, track your driving hours, practice with you, take you to classes, etc. They changed the laws years ago to be a LOT more stringent so it's gotten even harder too! It's SO dang much!!! I've known one person who did an electrical scooter for his necessities, but he couldn't go on the freeway so he was pretty limited.

I'm too terrified to ever drive on the freeway myself, besides it's not like I really need to where I live anyways. In my case I was lucky enough to inherit my grandmothers late 90s Sedan(After she lost one of her legs to smoking and could no longer drive)so far it's been pretty good to me and hopefully I won't need another car for quite some time.
I'm not against an IQ test for drivers either or a lot of things in general, but unfortunately the idea of an IQ test for anything has been more or less permanently soured now as back in the civil rights era IQ Tests were essentially used to weed out black voters so I can't honestly blame people for not wanting to go there again.

I hate the fact that there's anime on Disney+ because that means if there's some anime I feel interested in watching & it's only available on THAT SERVICE over here, then I'm just gonna be like "Ehhh, no.". There are very few things I'd want to watch on there... as in like, just 2 shows(Phineas and Ferb & The Owl House) & even still I don't want to give Disney any money.

TBH, I actually don't really like the idea/feel of anime on Disney + at all, unless it's directly on the Japanese Disney + service. Disney doesn't even have the rights to Ghibli anymore, they gave up on both Dorameon and Yokai Watch over here, and Hulu just feels more "natural" for anime, as does HBO Max with Adult Swim and all that). And Disney products feel pretty distinct from anime.
I mean I get financially WHY Disney + is hosting anime, but still.

When I had an IQ test it was average but only because some parts of the test I had a very high score and other parts I had a very low score. I depend on paratransit. I get distracted very easily so even if I decided to take driving lessons it wouldn't be safe.

I wasn't even aware there was anime on Plus until now.

It's really strange that this is such a case. Even if the media is not complete or vaulted, it would not hurt to release it in the public depending on what the media is, especially if it's media that hasn't been destroyed or similar. Other than respecting some sort of creator's wishes, I don't see the need to gatekeep it? But that's just me.

IDK, I'm so mixed on that. On one hand, I can see that working for some, but for the most part that kind of locked away material is considered to be locked away in an official sense & shouldn't be out there unless if permitted by those high above. There is a term for this, but for the love of me I can't remember what that term is.

Sometimes I feel like Mother Nature just wants us humans all killed & not necessarily because of us destroying nature, but because we exist. I also assume that nature in of itself doesn't want squat to do with Mother Nature's frantic antics for the most part. Trees just wanna be chill, they're not psychopathic gods that are bent on wiping the entire human race. Whenever parts of nature DO decide to cause a bit of mischief, they're not doing it for Mother Nature, they just do it for themselves or their friends.

On that note, all of this idea of "humans living harmoniously in nature (w/o modern creature comforts) is true paradise..." yeah, that's actually not a particularly pleasant experience, and wasn't for the vast majority of human history, nor is the case for many humans living in super rural/rugged areas today. There's a reason that the second humans "modernize/civilize" within a country, they almost always start moving into cities and modern housing ASAP. People glamorize cottagecore, hippie living, off the grid living, pioneercore, etc. without realizing just how uncomfortable life is without running/clean water, modern medicine, electricity, heating/cooling appliances, modern hygiene products, modern cookware/cooking tech, washing/drying machines, readily available convenience stores/food, etc.
Is there value in these lifestyles? Are there good lessons here for all of us? Of course, but I think the vast majority of people would NOT enjoy living in nature as much as they claim so online.
Somewhat related; just because the internet user is from the USA & is LGBT+, that doesn't mean they live in California, New York or Illinois. I am a gay guy from Tennessee. We exist elsewhere & why wouldn't we considering there's over 330 million people living in the USA?
Thank you! I hate when sanctimonious people act like absolutely everyone living in a rural area and/or the south (or Appalachia, or rust belt areas) must be every kind of -ist and -phobic under the sun. But these days because of worldly-wise newer generations, mass amounts of domestic/international migration, and widespread internet access, there is a LOT more diversity in thought and belief here than people would think
Speaking of all this, apparently me not wanting to ever go to California is no longer a hot take I guess! Lots of people are now leaving for Texas, which isn't much better & would cause some problems if just going there instead of spreading around to other states, but still.
Oh yeah, I'm not going to California no matter how hard anyone tries to get me to. Too pricey to live in, overcrowded to heck & back, is probably filled with hundreds of thousands of anti-LGBT+ people who'd want to kill me considering the population count of Cali is over 38 million, etc.
