I know most people in the vocal synth side of the lost media community usually only look for lost songs from popular producers such as masa or maretu, but I’d like to propose a search for a song by a much lesser known producer.
“ノーフューチャー” (No Future) is a song made by FuransupanP (also known as Kedama black as well as just “kk”), featuring the UTAU voicebank Kasane Teto (though the voicebank was configured to sound masculine, so it is labeled as “Kasane Ted” instead*). It was uploaded on the 19th of July of 2009, and the date of deletion is unknown but I suspect it was somewhere after or during 2018 (as that was when the song got an entry on vocaDB, and it wasn’t marked as unavailable back then). This was the song’s original niconico URL, and you can see some additional information on it by using nicolog.
(*Explaining the concept of derivatives/fanloids in a way for those not familiar with the vocal synth community is a bit tricky, but just so you all know this isn’t unique to this song at all and Ted is an established derivative character since 2008.)
Unlike the other two songs that were also deleted by FuransupanP, “Harubaru” and “Blue Monday”, there are seemingly no reprints of No Future. However, a short clip can be found in this compilation video at the timestamp 08:20. That’s right, a vocarank clip comes to the rescue again.
I know one of the first suggestions is probably gonna be to contact FuransupanP, and while that is possible (as they do have a Twitter account, which isn’t very active but still alive), considering the song was made a long time ago, they probably don’t even have it saved anymore, and even if they did, they probably won’t upload it again, so I don’t recommend contacting FuransupanP (seriously, please don’t go bombard the poor fellow with messages about an old song). My highest bet is on looking through and contacting reprint channels, preferably those who are still active and mainly reprint less known songs, as those have a higher chance of having saved it than those who focus on known songs. In fact, I’ve already left a comment on a reprint by Voca Vamp, which is of FuransupanP’s cover of Hirahira featuring the Vocaloid voicebank Kaai Yuki (again, please don’t go and send this person a bunch of messages, let’s wait and see if they’ll respond to my comment).
Some of you may be wondering why I am even looking for this song, as it might sound “bad” to some, especially those who are used to newer vocal synth songs. One of the main reasons is that I often listened to FuransupanP’s covers when I was younger, so when I rediscovered them and found they also made original songs I was pretty thrilled, and this is the one song of theirs that can’t be found in full anymore. Also, I believe that it’s not just lost songs from popular producers that deserve to be found, I think the less known ones deserve some love too.
