Hi, all, still a bit of a new face here, but I wanted to share what I believed would be an interesting topic. There was a fan/doujin film for the Heisei Gamera trilogy called Gamera 4: Truth. It was directed by Shinpei Hayashiya who was a fan of Godzilla and other Kaiju franchises such as Gamera. Interestingly, he had made other fan films prior to it, "Godzilla vs Seadora" and "Godzilla vs Deathgilas". He would go on to make some independent original Kaiju films. But, anyway, the gist of Gamera 4 is that it picks up after the end of 3, with Gamera and the Japanese military fighting the horde of Gyaos, and then a new Albino Gyaos showing up and killing Gamera. Then a new Gamera shows up and causes chaos for everyone. The film had a few private screenings, including an invite only at G-Fest XXI, introduced by Shinpei himself. The film has never had a home media release to my knowledge and footage of it is hard to come by. Although clips were shown in a Japanese TV segment: www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RK-hh-8mSQ&t=138s Supposedly a Kickstarter documentary called Kaiju Gaiden, which focused on unofficial and independent Kaiju films, Gamera 4 among them, was to feature some clips from the film and an interview with Shinpei, however due to scandals involving the main people behind the documentary and the project effectively becoming abandoned, whatever this documentary might have had to show, if anything, will likely go unreleased. I personally think the Gamera 4 project, what little we can see of it, is pretty impressive and creative given the small budget it had to work with.
