Back in the fifth grade, I would use this online educational service called iStation, and one game they had on there has stood out to this day, almost nine-ten years later: Masks. I remember it was this game that was supposed to be a story (this was an educational service after all, so this one was about the elements of a story, specifically the hero's journey) about a dystopian future where a totalitarian government who forces their citizens to wear masks and the hero (a character who I'm pretty sure was a red head) who forms a rebellion group. I did some searching around on Google, and I was able to find some small snip-its of the game, but not the whole thing. I'm also not sure if iStation has the full game (and since I've graduated high school, I'm not sure if I would be able to find out for myself), but regardless, any help would be appreciated.
Here's what has been found so far:
A song from the game:
A clip from the game, featuring the same song (link).
A gif featuring a small amount of footage from the game:
Oh man, I remember that LOL. I always hated the Paige Turner segments as a kid. My sister is still in 6th grade, I don't know if they still use it at school, but I'll see if she can get in.

God I remember this lesson, it was one of my personal favorites on iStation! I remember my last year of elementary finishing iStation and unlocking the “free play” and constantly going back to this lesson. I remember the song “One Voice” being super catchy and looking for it around 5 ish years ago with no luck until yesterday when I found this thread. I would love to see this lesson/media be found as I remember adoring the dystopian future with masks. I remember a tiny amount of the story, I remember a scene with a character watching a TV in like an alley (?) and it having propaganda I believe. I also remember the main character (no idea of his name) and the singer of “One Voice” (forgot her name also) like infiltrating the TV broadcast building to change what they were showing. I might be completely making that part up but I remember something similar to that happening. And I remember the city being like a circle, with the richer being in the inner circle and the poorer being on the outskirts.
Upon doing a little bit of research on this, it seems that “Mask” is by Olivia Webb and Natalie Masters
Some more character information for Masks. I read this story a lot as a kid and am confident in these details.
Tagore is the name of the protagonist. His mask has a white face and red hair as seen in the top right of the gif. After taking off his mask, he has slightly tanned skin and almond eyes. The singer ally is named Acantha and I can confirm the song is from the story. I remember her having short or medium length pink hair with her mask on. Tagore had a caretaker in early parts of the story named Giles, however the villain does something with him. I would say kill, but because this is a kid’s learning website, the authors might have decided to have him locked up by the villain.
I am not certain about this detail, but I believe the story had 10 parts. The gif is from part one, Giles is taken away in part three, and the song “One Voice” is from part four.
Definitely going to look for this piece more. It’s a good way to introduce the dystopian genre to kids, and I contribute this story to my love of dystopian novels.
