Hi everyone! I wanted to make a thread to discuss this old flash website I used to play on as a kid. It was called "Dug the Slug." It could have also been spelled as "Doug" but I don't remember which haha.
Anyway, some information:
In the mid-2000s-early 2010s there was a website called "ZhuTube" which was like a kid-friendly version of YouTube years before YouTube Kids was a thing. It mostly had early kid-friendly YouTube animations on it, such as Jurassic Fart (please tell me someone remembers that) and Badgers (animated by MrWeebl). Sometime in the early 2010s, it was rebranded to "KidZhu" and it hosted kid-friendly videos, websites, and photos. One such website I found through KidZhu was called Dug/Doug the Slug. It featured some simple cute characters that you could interact with by clicking on them. The only two characters I remember are Dug/Doug the Slug himself, and his dinosaur friend named "Thesaurasaurus." When you first open the website, Dug/Doug would say "Hello, I'm Dug/Doug the Slug." Thesaurasaurus also introduced himself when you went to his page, saying "Hello, I'm Thesaurasaurus." If you clicked on his legs he would say "Ouch! You poked my appendage!" I think if you clicked his tail he would poop? The website itself wasn't very detailed, with solid colors as the backgrounds and basic fonts. Sometime in the 2010s it got bought out by some Russian company and was completely wiped from existence. I have looked everywhere for any trace of it and there's absolutely no results other than the fact that a band called "Doug and the Slugs" exists, although I'm sure they're not related at all.
I highly doubt this thing will be found but I wanted to discuss it here after it randomly popped into my head.
Genuinely curious, does anyone else remember this website? Did anyone else ever used ZhuTube/KidZhu back in the day too? I feel like I'm the only person who seems to remember it haha
Also I attached some doodles I made of what I remember the characters looking like.
