There was a mobile game from SEGA that I used to play when I was in Middle school. The game, Dragon coins, was a coin-pusher game with some similar mechanics to Puzzle and Dragons. Basically, the game was a gacha where you would collect different monsters and use them in battles against bosses. Each monster had a slot that you would drop coins into to charge it's special attacks. It was a free-to-play game with in app purchases: which were what you'd expect; pay for better gacha pulls, pay for more coins, pay for an extra play, etc. It also had to be connected to the internet in order to play it. As one might guess, with these parameters, as well as the fact that I was a tweenager when I played it, I was never any good at it. The game seemed to have some success in Japan, but didn't fare well elsewhere, as it was shut down about a year after it's worldwide release, much to middle-school-me's dismay.
I'll be the first to admit that this game wasn't anything special: at it's release, it received criticism for a lack of originality, as well as falling into the usual trappings of sleazy pay-to-play games of the era. Despite all this, it still does have a special place in my heart. I think a lot of the monster designs (which, despite the name of "dragon coins," were mostly busty anime women) were really well designed and illustrated. Most of my time in the game was spent just browsing the artwork they had for each monster, and I think that they've went on to influence a lot of my own art and character designs.
Now, I have found a few remnants of the game that are still online. It's official socials are still up, and you can easily find gameplay videos and trailers from it on Youtube. The game also had an official wiki that you could access from the game, which I think has been archived (I found a "dragon coins wiki" from the wayback machine, and although it looks different from what I remember, I can't imagine the game was mainstream enough to have a fan wiki for it. Additionally, I have a terrible memory, so do with that what you will). There are a lot of links claiming to have the game for download, but they all look kind of sketchy to me, so I haven't tested any of them. I imagine that they're just leftovers from when the game was online, but I could be wrong. Even if it can still be downloaded, the servers are down, and it needs internet to play, so that wouldn't be much help anyway. I don't really know how one would go about archiving a lost mobile game of this nature, I personally would be satisfied with just an archive of it's various art assets (I'd point to the wiki, but it doesn't seem to be fully archived in that regard).
