This one has mystified me for years now. On November 5th, 2010, Beta 64 uploaded a video showcasing beta footage of Turok 2. In the video has a short snippet of a song from an EP called "K is for Kraken feat. Murderskate". From what I recall, the song featured in the video was specifically called " S.L.A.U.G.H.T.E.R."
The Turok2 video seems to be the only audio archive of the album's existence, as the hosted download links featured in an old Nintendocore blog are down. If it means anything to the search, last.fm logs 5 "scrobbles" for the album, though that could just be bots, web default, or something else.
From what I recall, I have been looking for the album and the song featured in this video for years, with very little leads. Perhaps posting here might help unearth this long lost EP? Fingers crossed.
Some updates after following the incredible lost media handbook (hopefully this doesn't count as necrobumping). I was able to find some youtube reuploads of one of K is for Kraken's EP's as well as a remix of the song Tik Tok by Ke$ha he made.
According to the description of the video for the lost EP, K is for Kraken was a former project of AcidicVox. This is also confirmed by a discogs page I was able to find for the project. His website is in German, which might be an issue for contact, but his youtube is in English so I figured I could contact him in English. Below I provided a copy-paste of the email I sent him. I am newbie to the whole contact thing but figure short and simple was fine enough.
Subject:K is for Kraken feat. MurderskateHello there,
I am someone who has been looking for an EP called "K is for Kraken feat. Murderskate" and on Discogs it says it was one of your side projects. I was wondering if you still had access to this EP, since I have always wanted to listen to it, but never could find a way to.
I'm AcidicVoid and just want to give you some answers.
Thanks for your big interest in my music.
To be honest, I don't remember receiving your eMail. Sorry, if I never answered it.
By the way, you can contact almost every German in English. That's no problem.
The DarkRealms channel hosts also some other some music I was evolved in. There are further K is for Kraken tracks, but those are rather bad ones.
One partially lost track is a cover of the Dr. Who theme: youtu.be/eh74FbC6XJE Seemingly, Game Informer Online Radio used this track without asking for permission. See the video description for more details.
I wasn't aware of the Beta 64 video and I'm kinda happy to hear that track again. The track in the video is a demo version of the intro for the EP you're searching. AFAIK, it was never featured on any release. I have to admit, I've got NO IDEA where I uploaded that one... I re-made the track later with much better quality and other instruments.
The EP with Murderskate consistet of two parts:
Two K is for Kraken songs: The said intro and another song, both in a new style with guitars. Two Murderskate songs, influenced by bands like Horse The Band or Novotny TV.
Back then, I didn't make backups regularly and lost almost all of my recordings + SID files I had. So, the EP was gone. The SID files are a even bigger loss for me, I liked some of those very much. They were also on 8bc.org but I couldn't find a complete dump or a collection containing those. They were uploaded relatively shortly before the site went offline and that probably doesn't help a lot.
The download links for the EP I remember were posted on the following sites: Myspace, Bandcamp, Facebook, also on a German grindcore forum Unfortunately, I can't find any archived version. It was uploaded to mediafire and other sites, so there COULD be a link out there that still works.
I'd be happy to find it but I already put a lot of effort in a few searches and honestly don't know where to look now. So I guess we're out of luck.
Fun Fact: The first Murderskate demo was a fun project and recorded totally drunk in one evening. It is pretty much complete garbage but kinda nostalgic to me, lol
PS: I have a new SoundCloud account but I guess you've already found it.
