Shane Dawson and others vloggers on the age of cancellation

I mentioned her on the found video compilation thread, but Brookers comes to mind and I don't think all of her videos have been archived (or if she has them anywhere). I'm not sure if she was exactly "cancelled", but the story I was told was that some time after visiting or moving to India, the tone of her channel changed and she started getting preachy about spirituality to her viewers who didn't take too kindly to it. She eventually closed her channel and would come back in 2018, having under 500 subs compared to her early years when having 60k was the stuff of dreams. She did a stream not too long ago discussing things.

VenomFangX (Shawn) is another controversial figure. He was a cult of personality figure in the religion / debate community and would clash with Christians and Atheists alike with his creationist beliefs and less than flattering views about Atheists, Muslims, Mormons, and other groups. Some of his bigger controversies were his numerous false DMCA claims against his critics and archival channels that would back up his content, including videos that wouldn't be up long without being deleted. A friend of Shawn named Jack came forward stating he filed many of these claims on his behalf, knowing they weren't in good faith and he told Shawn this was the case. He didn't seem to care. As the 2000s started coming to a close, he found himself entangled in a web of lies and other controversies that would come to shake the community up a bit.

At this moment in time, Shawn was under scrutiny for his callous and and manipulative charisma to exploit and taunt Muslims. In his hometown of Toronto (?), he would do various street preaching videos where he would engage in small talk debating Muslims while splicing in passages and hadithes condemning Islam with the same sense of charm an edgy, angsty Atheist would to criticize Christianity. These videos, in turn would result in Shawn claiming persecution and accusations that Muslims and atheists have stalked him and sent him and his family death threats with no evidence to support his claims. He would "leave" YouTube for his safety multiple times, only to return shortly there after as if nothing happened and would repeat the same habits. While threats of legal action were slowly making their way to his door for his false DMCA claims, trouble was brewing in the community and the spotlight would be placed back on Shawn. Between 2007 to 2009, YouTuber Tony48219 (Anthony Powell) would make himself known to the religious community; being a devout Christian who would make uncomfortable videos laughing maniacally and rant about his hatred of Atheists and black women. He would also profess his respect and unconditional support of Shawn, even when he came to his lies and censoring of his critics.  Anthony's mental health and anger would crescendo violently in April 2009, which lead to the Fort Henry Community College shooting where Anthony killed classmate Asia McGowen (a fellow Youtuber) before taking his own life. How people view Shawn's response to the situation and if he had any influence on Anthony is up for debate.

Around this time and settling the DMCA fiasco (which was in the form of reading a letter written by a lawyer that, under the penalty of perjury, he knew the seriousness of his actions and was sorry for what he did), he found himself in probably his worst scandal. After finding himself jobless after being fired from his job at a video store for proselytizing to customers with bootleg Kent Hovind DVDs, he talked about asking his viewers to help support him financially so he could preach the gospel full time. This is a lengthy chapter in his time on YouTube involving deceiving his fan base, scamming his viewers, defrauding a Children's hospital, and making false pedophilia accusations towards on of his critics (a lawyer who tried to level with him due to his false DMCA attacks) when he was backed into a corner about lying to everyone about where his finances were going.

Here's a YouTube documentary that covers on just a portion of Shawn's history because if you had the chance to do a documentary on his early life to wherever he is now, then you'd either have a full length series or a single 6+ hour long piece. It's unclear where he is now since his social media accounts are dead as far as I'm aware of. His YouTube channel has only one video, his missionary website TheWayTheTruth is broken, and his Facebook page appears to be abandoned. I believe I've seen his name come up on GodTV Radio, a website ran by one of his former critics turned "born again Christian", Brett Keane who is and was a controversial figure in the religious scene to this day. Much like Shawn, the vast majority of his content appears to be lost and not everything was able to be saved on the remaining archival channels.

Edit: A quick search for him on Youtube shows he's involved with a group called Sevenfold Films, which is dedicated to making Christian sci-fi stuff. How peculiar!
