Good (early) morning,
I wanted to pop in and see if I could contribute to this search. Having seen much of Stanley during its initial run, I am still quite fond of it today and would be curious to see the whole thing found and released to the wider public. Over the course of the last few months, I’ve been building up a private archive of all the Stanley footage unearthed so far. It seems like approximately half the series (movie included) is missing in its native English.
So far, it seems like this search is headed by a passionate but disorganized motley crew. With respect to the genre of media Stanley belongs to, as well as the lower profile of the IP itself, there was still arguably more ground that could’ve been covered in three months' time. As far-fetched as it was to uncover the “lost” pilot - animated pilots aren’t typically released or widely screened anyway, can’t find what isn’t lost - it was a discovery made in due part to the archivists who made enough noise about their situation and got results. Donkeyjazz was actually on the money trying to dig up some of the lost episodes; gradually, folks have been reuploading the show episode by episode, some of which have covered those more elusive stories. Cross referenced from a list of missing episodes, I can confirm that these are certainly accounted for as of today:
Season 2, Episode 7 - Woodpecker Woes/P.U. Pup
Season 3, Episode 4 - A Turkey of a Thanksgiving was found here, but it was collected without sound.
The first season is covered by an upload of the Greek dub; it’d be unlikely these will be translated in their entirety, but the footage is kept in decent shape. It covers the following:
Episode 3 - Bearly Awake/The Eagle Has Landed
Episode 4 - Watch Out for Lionels/Growing Pains
Episode 7 - Camel Commotion/There's Snow Place Like Home
Episode 14 - Penguin Party/Leave It to Beavers
Episode 17a - Remembering With Elephants
Episode 20b - Peekaboo Parrot
Episode 21b - Sea Lion Slip-Up
That said, I did want to note that there are a few advantages to the current situation. Stanley’s notoriety has given its longevity not only in our memories, but on terrestrial TV. The show has popped up multiple times in reruns since it’s concluded; *I see the iTunes archives have been discovered. Dubs of all kinds have been found but more importantly, its time circulating North American feeds have led to further visibility or even collection of lost episodes. Better yet, more recent clippings seem to suggest it’s gotten airtime within the last five years or so. Earlier this week, I made a discovery that all but confirmed such a theory.

The links above take you to a current schedule of Disney Junior’s Japanese feed. It appears to air every weeknight at 10 PM Japan Standard Time. On weekends, it’s listed as airing at 29:00 JST, which is an ambiguous time to my knowledge. Even better, you’ll notice a small sitting next to each episode listing, which indicates that it’s a “bilingual” program. This is an unprecedented find; Stanley used to air on the main channel in its early years, but it’s shocking to find it native to a feed over a decade later. It seems like someone’s had success in the past porting one of these airings **online, however long ago this was achieved. Considering archival capabilities, this seems like a slam dunk as far as do-ability goes. The only question now would be in finding who could close the gap. Considering what needs to be found, you could have this whole thing closed in a month or two.
When I found those iTunes cuts myself early into the year, I was dismayed to see the French dub was all that survived. I had a friend up North look into it and everything; we had the time and resources to secure it, but I figured it wasn’t worth the trouble, especially since decent English uploads keep popping up slowly but surely. Getting it all up in an archive before the 15th would be a bit tricky, just taking upload/encode times into account, but it wouldn’t be impossible. I reckon we could make an attempt, even with our busy schedules. Whether that matriculates or not, what I’d ultimately recommend is to try and track down someone who can get ahold of that Disney Junior feed and grab the remaining cuts if the English track is available.
As far as Disney+ goes, it’s certainly a possibility at some point. Previously, it seemed picks like Out of the Box or Rolie Polie Olie would not see an official release, whether due to general obscurity or rights holding respectively. Meanwhile, both of them are on the platform or making their way there. I wouldn’t rely on it ending up there by itself though, especially since this one-in-a-million opportunity with the Japanese feed dropping from nowhere.
I know I dropped a lot of info at once; I hope it helps at all. I’ve been looking into who might be able to assist, but I figured this was all best laid out for anyone to find. Happy Hunting!
*P.S. - The French iTunes store has the same dub as the Canadian store but I’ve heard it may be more lenient as far as payment options go.
