The Japanese website for the Tamagotchi M!X is shutting down on March 29th. For context, the Tamagotchi M!X was a tamagotchi where you could marry two different characters together and they would have a hybrid child with both of the parents traits. (hence why it was called that.) The Tamagotchi M!X was released only in Japan on July 16, 2016, making it 7 years old now hence why the website is shutting down, plus there have been many newer Tamagotchi toys released since then. There was also a upgraded version of the M!X made 2 years after it's release called the Tamagotchi ON (Known as the Tamagotchi Meets in Japan) which was localized to the west and other countries, and had more features like being able to have twin tamagotchi's.
On the website you can play minigames to earn coins on the Tamagotchi device. These games are a flower shop mini-game (お花屋さんでお手伝い♪, Helping at the flower shop) where you make bouquets for customers, and a cake making game (・わくわくケーキづくり♪, make exciting cakes) where you make a cake (duh) without making any mistakes. Whether you win or lose at both games is pure randomness however, and you don't control your character.
You can also check out the family tree of your and other people's tamagotchi characters. (And also any characters you previously had that died.) The family tree on the website doesn't have a limit to how much lineage history can be saved, unlike the device itself. The website says you don't need a Tamagotchi M!X to use the games or family tree. I'm not sure how this works. Other then those two features, you can also send your character to the website by inputting a password that the device generates when you go to the option to connect to it, which is how you get to get them to be in games, and see their family history.
However, to use the features of the website you need a Bandai Namco account from Japan with a Japanese address, which is obviously hard for someone outside of Japan to do. I'm not sure if VPN's can work around this since I'm not really familiar with them and how Bandai Namco's account registration works in general, or if you would need a proxy to use the website features if you lived/had a Bandai account outside Japan.
I don't have a VPN or Tamagotchi M!X, so I can't do much but archive the website on the Wayback Machine. However, if someone who has access to a VPN or a Japan-made Bandai Namco account can help. I'm not familiar on what software the games use, but I'm sure there is someone who can figure it out and archive it. I would really appreciate any help!
In recent years, the Tamagotchi community has been very well with archiving apps or add-ons that have been shut down. When the tie-in app for the Tamagotchi ON was shut down, the community made a backed up version of it called MixingMeets, and there's also a fan-made app called My Meets where you can customize a partner for your Tamagotchi among other things. The tie-in app for another Tamagotchi release, the 4U and it's upgraded release the 4U+ have been archived as well. I'm hoping this doesn't become lost media, because that means that these features will be lost to time, and that it will be impossible to be able to view the full lineage of a tamagotchi!
